Signature Aviation is the fixed-base operator at Blue Grass Airport (LEX / KLEX) in Lexington, Kentucky. The private terminal is at 4308 Hangar Drive, Lexington, KY 40510, phone 859-255-7724, and both Signature and the airport say the desk is open 24 hours. The airline terminal is a different building, at 4000 Terminal Drive. Signature is the FBO. The airline terminal is not.
Blue Grass Airport’s FBO page names Signature Aviation as the operator of the private terminal, with a passenger lounge, conference rooms, and customs on site. The airport’s master-plan notes record that Signature took over the FBO previously operated as TAC Air. We do not list TAC Air as a current choice. We also did not find a second full-service passenger FBO to offer alongside Signature. Self-serve fuel elsewhere on the field is not a lobby.
If you are on a scheduled airline, the meetup is the commercial terminal at 4000 Terminal Drive, at baggage claim or the curb you specify. If you are on a private or charter aircraft handled by Signature, the meetup is 4308 Hangar Drive. Those two drives start a meaningful distance apart on the airport. “LEX” by itself is not a complete reservation.
Lexington doors, then the road to Louisville
Downtown Lexington is about 15 minutes from the Signature terminal in ordinary traffic. Keeneland, on the west side of town near the airport, is often 10 to 15 minutes, which is why race weeks and horse-sale weeks fill this FBO. Versailles and Woodford Reserve are about 20 to 25 minutes west. Georgetown is a short drive north. Louisville via I-64 is about an hour and 15 minutes, and that is a charter from our Louisville base, not a Lexington taxi fare.
A horse-farm or Keeneland arrival for a few people is the black SUV. A group that came in on one cabin and needs to stay together uses the 14-passenger shuttle, especially with luggage. A stretch limousine fits a formal Lexington evening. The 30-passenger party bus is for a night that was planned as a night, with hours that include the farm lanes or the downtown stops you actually want. We dispatch from Louisville, so a Lexington-only day is scheduled ahead rather than hailed.
Flight tracking at a 24-hour desk
Signature’s 24-hour operation means a late private arrival can still have a lobby, which is not true at every municipal field on this site. We still need the tail number, the passenger names, and a phone. Planeside greeting depends on Signature allowing the vehicle to the aircraft. The default is the Hangar Drive lobby, where bags can be loaded without a ramp argument.
A commercial arrival uses flight number and airline, and the Terminal Drive curb. Do not give us a tail number for an airline flight or an airline flight number for a Signature arrival. If the trip continues to Frankfort, Bardstown, or a Louisville hotel, list those stops in order. Call (502) 835-2838 when the aircraft you meant is not the aircraft that left.
