Capital City Airport (FFT / KFFT) is the public airport one mile southwest of Frankfort, owned by the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The Capital City Airport FBO desk is at 88 Airport Road, Frankfort, KY 40601, phone 502-564-3714. The airport division’s office next door is 90 Airport Road. Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s own pages describe one full-service FBO run by the airport, not a private chain. Veteran Executive Transportation meets civilian arrivals there for the Capitol, Buffalo Trace, and the drive toward Woodford Reserve. Call (502) 835-2838.
A state airport with its own line service
The airport sits beside the Boone National Guard Center. That adjacency is not permission to pick up on a military ramp, and we do not have a base-access story to tell. Civilian passengers use the public FBO at 88 Airport Road. The state’s line-service page lists attended hours of 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends. AirNav’s attendance line is not identical in the evening. If you are arriving near closing, confirm with the FBO desk and then tell us, so the lobby and the car exist at the same time.
There is no Signature or Atlantic terminal here to choose. One desk, one public entrance off US 60, about a mile southwest of downtown, two blocks west of the US 60 and US 127 intersection according to the airport’s AirNav description. Give the chauffeur 88 Airport Road, not “the Frankfort airport” alone.
Frankfort stops that start at this curb
Downtown Frankfort and the Capitol are about 10 minutes from the FBO in ordinary traffic. Buffalo Trace is in Frankfort and is a short ride, about 10 to 15 minutes, when that is the appointment. Woodford Reserve, near Versailles, is about 25 minutes and is a different county. Louisville via I-64 is about an hour. Lexington is the other direction and is its own airport if the ticket is actually at LEX.
A government or distillery visit for two or three people is the SUV. A board that traveled together wants the 14-passenger shuttle. A stretch limousine is for a formal Frankfort evening. The party bus is a rare FFT request and only makes sense when the group is spending the night in town, not when eight people simply need to reach a tasting on time. We will recommend the shuttle when the bus is the wrong tool.
Tracking the flight without guessing the lobby
Send the tail number, the passenger names, and whether the next stop is the Capitol, a distillery, or a hotel. We track the inbound. A state aircraft and a civilian charter can both use this field; we only need the one you are on and the door you will use. If the National Guard side is in the instructions from your crew, stop and call us. We will move the meetup to the public FBO or decline the stop.
Because we dispatch from Louisville, a Frankfort airport morning is a planned departure from our base. Same-day coverage is a phone question at (502) 835-2838. The written quote is what holds the SUV or the shuttle for a legislative day or a bourbon appointment that cannot slip.
