The back-road route through Clermont
Lux Row Distillers is at 1 Lux Row in Bardstown, with its entrance off East John Rowan Boulevard. Its own directions from Louisville run south on I-65 to the Clermont and Bernheim Forest exit rather than out the Bluegrass Parkway. That route choice is the useful part: it puts Lux Row about 30 minutes past the James B. Beam Distilling Co., and about five minutes from Bardstown Bourbon Company. Lux Row is the home of brands like Rebel Yell and Ezra Brooks, and on a route map it is the hinge between Clermont and Bardstown.
Why the route matters
A lot of Bardstown plans treat the town as one destination and drive straight there. Following the Clermont route instead lets you tour James B. Beam in the morning, ride about half an hour to Lux Row, and then cross to Bardstown Bourbon Company in five minutes. Three stops, and the only long drive is the ride home.
If you are skipping Clermont, Lux Row works just as well as a first stop in Bardstown. Tell us where the day starts and we will choose the route.
Getting there
From downtown Louisville, the drive is about 60 to 65 minutes, roughly 43 to 44 miles. From SDF, about 55 minutes. From downtown Jeffersonville, about an hour.
Pickups
Louisville hotels such as the Brown and the Galt House, homes across Louisville and Southern Indiana, and SDF arrivals with flight tracking are all routine starts. Guests coming from more than one hotel can be collected in one loop; list each stop on the quote.
Planning the tasting
Lux Row's site names a cocktail bar on the grounds. We have not confirmed food service for regular visitors, so plan lunch at The Kitchen Table in Clermont before you arrive or at Bardstown Bourbon Company's Kitchen & Bar after. Larger groups have their own booking path on Lux Row's site, so check it before you reserve.
Bring a valid photo ID, and ask before the tour whether any production areas are closed on your date. Lux Row posts those notices on its own site.
Pairing with Bardstown Bourbon Company or James B. Beam
Bardstown Bourbon Company is about five minutes away. The James B. Beam Distilling Co. is about 30 minutes back toward Louisville. Our Bardstown day from Louisville uses Lux Row in its alternate pairing.
The three-stop Clermont route, leg by leg
Here is the route Lux Row's directions suggest, laid out as a full day from downtown Louisville. Drive about 40 minutes south on I-65 to the James B. Beam Distilling Co. for a morning tour and lunch at The Kitchen Table. Continue about 30 minutes to Lux Row for an early-afternoon tour and a drink at its cocktail bar. Cross about five minutes to Bardstown Bourbon Company for a late-afternoon tour, then ride about an hour home.
Total driving is about two hours and 20 minutes, and no leg between tours is longer than half an hour. For a two-stop version, drop Clermont, start at Lux Row about an hour from downtown, and finish at Bardstown Bourbon Company.
When you send the quote, list the stops in the order you reserved them. If your tour times force a different order, your chauffeur re-plans the route rather than asking you to change reservations. If your group is large enough for Lux Row's group booking path, reserve that first, since the other two stops are easier to fit around it.
Reserve your tour directly
Reserve your tour and tasting directly with Lux Row Distillers on its website. Send us your times, and your chauffeur handles the driving and the timing between stops.
Choosing a vehicle
Groups using the three-stop route often ride a shuttle, which is its own service built for keeping a guest list on schedule. A small party can take a luxury SUV. See our fleet page for vehicle sizes. Every chauffeur is background-checked and trained; our safety standards are on the safety page.
